France wasted to much money on wars, didn't get enough money from taxes, and all food prices were high and pay was very low. Mostly peasants were affected from this.

There were 3 estates. 1 was clergy, the other was nobility, and the last one was the rest of the French society. Mostly made up of peasants. Each estate had 1 vote. Peasants weren't really liked by the 2 other upper classes.

National assembly takes over
We, 3rd class, are taking over France.
At the dawn of July 14, a huge crowd stormed a prison with muskets, swords and other weapons. People tried to hold them back but they couldn't. After this event, many people were executed.
This saying became a huge widespread from the French in the enlightenment era.
The National assembly was made up of mostly 3rd estate people. They took over France because they were not happy.
