Jack demonstrates the best leadership qualities on the island.
One reason Jack would make the best leader is because he wants to make sure everyone is fed and healthy. " All the same you need an army--for hunting. Hunting pigs--" (Pg.25)
Another reason Jack would make the better leader is that he is physically stronger and more intimidating than Ralph. "It's true that Jack has the advantage of being tall; his direction of the choir is another sign of an "obvious leader."
The last reason why Jack would make the best leader is Jack is more intelligent than Ralph. As Jack was the one to think of using Piggy's glasses to start the fire. "Jack pointed suddenly. "His specs--use them as burning glasses!"" (Pg. 32)
Jack would also not make a good leader because, he only cared about the pig, and did not want to help build shelters to help Ralph. " "I was talking about smoke! Don't you want to be rescued? All you talk about is pig, pig, pig!" "But we want meat!" "And I work all day with nothing but Simon and you come back and don't even notice the huts!" (Pg. 45)
In conclusion, Jack should be the leader, not Ralph.
