Rainsford, an accomplished hunter finds himself stranded on an island in the Caribbean. He falls off a boat headed for a game hunt in the South American Jungle.
Rainsford is placed in a deadly hunt by General Zaroff when bargaining to escape the island. A slight internal conflict comes into play because Rainsford has the irony of being the quarry in a game hunt.
Main Conflict (External)
At dinner, General Zaroff tells Rainsford he hunts people. Rainsford becomes desperate to escape the island and agrees to be hunted.
The climax happens when Zaroff tells Rainsford that he hunts people. This is built up by gunshots that Rainsford hears and evidence of a struggle.
The falling action is when Zaroff hunts Rainsford through the jungle. Rainsford sets traps to kill Zaroff, but Zaroff manages to dodge them all. Then Rainsford jumps off a cliff into the sea.
The resolution happens when Rainsford escapes the island. Rainsford comes back to the island and hides in Zaroff's room. Rainsford then kills Zaroff, and ends the story.
