  • Some Acts happened for different reasons. The Stamp and Quartering Act were made for financial purposes, after the French and Indian War. The Boston Massacre happened due to people complaining about taxes. The Tea Party because Britain was imposing “taxation without representation." and it was a political protest. The Intolerable Acts were made to punish the colonists for the Boston Tea Party.
  • The Boston Massacre
  • The Quartering Act was an Act that made colonists have to house and take care of British soldiers in exchange for protection. They had to feed them, give them things they had, and other things.
  • The Boston Tea Party
  • The Stamp Act was an Act that made colonists pay tax for printed material, and other documents such as newspapers, licenses, contracts, and more.
  • The Intolerable Acts
  • On March 5th, 1770, a small argument between some British soldiers and some colonists occurred. The British tried to calm them down, but they started throwing rocks and sticks at them. One hit, and knocked down a soldier. He fired at the crowd and it was followed by other gunshots. 3 people died in the massacre, and 2 died after from wounds.
  • On December 16th, 1773, colonists boarded a ship filled with chests of tea. Tea was a great drink, but there were high taxes on it since the Tea Act existed. This didn't seem fair to the colonies as they were not represented in British Parliament and didn't have a say on how the taxes should be done. They asked for the tea to be returned, but it wasn't, so they threw 342 chests of tea into the harbor as a protest.
  • There were 4 Intolerable Acts, well technically 5 but we didn't learn the Quebec Act. The four Acts were the Boston Port Act, which closed all ports from all ships because of the Tea Party, the Quartering Act, which made colonists house soldiers, the Massachusetts Government Act, which made Governors all be appointed by Britain so they were British, which took away power, and the Administration of Justice Act or the Murder Act.This act allowed the governor to move capital trials against government officials to Great Britain.
