  • Slavery, Slavery was a big part of the United State's History. Slavery was, shortened from it logical definition, was the time period when African Americans, who white Americans thought were inferior to them, worked under a master, who was usually a white man.
  • Soon, in the time of the mid- 1800's, people began to disagree about these methods called slavery. Some believed everyone deserved an equal chance in life, and that white and black men were friends, not master's to servants.
  • War broke out between two sides, the Union, the people who fought against slavery, and the Confederacy, the people who fought for keeping slavery.
  • While many people thought that the Civil right war would be fought in one battle, they were wrong. Hundreds of major and miniature battles raged on between the two sides for almost four years. Some of the most important, were  the Battle of Fort Sumter, the Battle Of Gettysburg, the Battle Of Antietam, the Siege Of Vicksburg, etc.
  • On April 9th, 1865, General Robert E. Lee, surrendered the Confederacy to Ulysses S. Grant, and the Civil War was finally over. The Union had won. And  less then a week after the surrender, Abraham Lincoln,  the president of the United States, passed the 13th Amendment to the Constitution of The United States Of America. It abolished slavery and involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for a crime.  Click To EditOn April 9th, 1865, General Robert E. Lee, surrendered the Confederacy to Ulysses S.
