Storyboard Text

  • She was in luxury. She had an umbrella which protected her from all heat or cold. The prince would be riding in a chariot with guards right behind him.
  • This took place around 563 B.C. Siddhartha could have chosen the path to be a mighty king who united all of India. The other path was to become a religious leader according to legend.
  • Legend was that one day when he was 29 he rode outside without any guards which is unlikely for him. He saw four things on four of his trips. He never saw such suffering and sadness.
  • Siddhartha lived on food that strangers placed in the begging bowl. At night he slept in a shelter like a tree or cave. The cycle of rebirth had upset Siddhartha that he became one.
  • Siddhartha was ready to renew his search. He sat under a fig tree to meditate which was later known as the Tree of Knowledge. He meditated for 49 days and was visited by Mara.
  • Buddha's purpose in life was not to leave the cycle of life but to teach others what he had learned. He went back to earth to teach people a little knowledge that he had. He wanted to let people know the religion of Buddhism.
