This is perfect! Just imagine how many tourists we could attract with a pier and permanent carnival.
One day a team of city developers decided that they would transform the beach into a tourist attraction. What they failed to remember were the species that called the beach home.
Months later, the pier and carnival had been finished. It was a huge hit! Tents, Ferris Wheels, food stalls, and roller coasters stood where there once was only sand and rock.
Soon several problems arose. Rather than properly disposing the garbage that was left behind by tourists, workers threw it all into the ocean. They forgot that the ocean was a habitat to several species. Many fish died from being in the polluted water.
Because of the disturbance in their ecosystem, the birds left to find a better habitat where the water, air, and land were clean enough. The lack of food due to pollution and over-fishing also affectede the birds.
Turtles were impacted very negatively as well. They used sand/land to lay their eggs. When the land is developed, they can no longer lay eggs and are forced to find a new habitat.
Building a simple pier or carnival can have a huge impact on the ecosystem. Several animals die or are forced to leave due to the conditions. Is it okay to destroy species homes and pollute the environment?
