  • This is just the beginning of the fight!
  • The estates General took place in Versailles on May 5, 1789. King Louis XVI was confronted by the commoners about tax burden. The commoners were unsuccessful in reaching an agreement. This was the beginning of the French Revolution. This event also lead to a rage by the commoners.
  • August 26, 1789
  • We all want rights!!!
  • There was a dramatic act of defiance from the commoners. They acted like this because they were treated badly. They had a meeting of the Estate Generals. They wanted something to change so they weren't treated poorly anymore. It was also the start of the French Revolution.

  • The Bastille got stormed by revolutionaries because and mutinous troops. They stormed and seized control of the medieval armory, fortress, and the Bastille. They did this because they wanted to get ammunition and arms. This was a signal to the beginning of the French revolution. The commoners where about to get what they had wanted.

  • The article of the Deceleration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen was adopted by the National Constituent Assembly. This was the first step toward writing a constitution for France. It granted civil rights to some commoners. The people it did grant rights to were most likely happy. But others that it didn't were probably not happy.
  • Women from the marketplaces of Paris were concerned over the high prices and scarcity of the bread. So they lead the march of Versailles. This was significant in the French Revolution. Eventually they forced the royals to return to Paris.
  • This was a significant episode in the French Revolution. King Louis XVI of France, Queen Marie Antoinette, and their immediate family tried to escape from Paris. They were unsuccessful. They wanted to avoid retribution from the revolutionaries. This is important because it led to both King Louis and Queen Antoinette's deaths.
