  • The United States was very confident that they would beat the British. The soldiers did not prepare very much for the war. Most of the soldiers were poorly trained. The Americans lost against the British. The loss lead to the Americans losing Detroit.
  • The British Attack
  • we burn the White House!
  • On September 10, 1813 the Americans attacked the British. The Americans had frigates and were prepared for battle. The British had an alliance with the Native Americans. The British lost to the Americans which lead to the Americans getting Lake Erie.
  • The British Defeat

  • In March, 1814 Andrew Jackson a military leader for the Americans lead U.S. forces to attack the Creeks. More than 550 Creek people died. The Creeks were forced to give up most of their lands.
  • The End of the War
  • We made a Treaty
  • In August, 1814 the British attacked Washington D.C. and overpowered the American army. The British destroyed and burned everything. The British even set the White House on fire. After the British moved to to Baltimore but the people were ready for them.
  • While British forces were attacking Washington D.C. and Baltimore a British general George Prevost was moving into New York form Canada with more than 10,000 soldiers. The British wanted to capture Plattsburgh. The Americans soldiers defeated the British. Then the British stopped going to war with America because it was not worth the effort.
  • In December, 1814 American and British Representatives met in Belgium to sign a peace treaty the treaty was called The Treaty of Ghent.
