- When Mexican the Mexican general found out that the american colonists refused to give the cannon that the Mexicans let them borrow.
- The Mexican general sent 100 soldiers to go retrieve the cannon.When the soldiers got to the Guadalupe river They found their path blocked by high water and 18 american soldiers.
- on october 1st the texians crossed over into the mexicans camp and put a homemade sign that said "come and take it!"
- On October 2nd the American soldiers attacked the Mexicans who were outnumbered and didn't have enough weapons to fight the Americans.
- In despite of Castaneda effort to avoid war the battle of Gonzalez Marked a clear break between the Mexican government and american colonists.
