Jaylin-Rise of Sumerian States

Storyboard Text

  • Hello I'm from Mesopotamia. Mesopotamia is located on Iraq, Asia and the two rivers that helped the Mesopotamians survive were the Tigris and Euphrates rivers.
  • We moved to the Zagros Foothills because there were great conditions for growing crops. All the plentiful rainstorms made it great for farming and growing food.
  • After a while the population started to grow dramatically within the lack of space which caused food shortage. We then moved to the plains that we called Sumer.
  • The main problems we had when we moved to Sumer were flooding and then at other times the soil was hard as rock. Two things the farmers did for a solution is one build levees along side of the two rivers to stop flooding and two they dug canals to control where the rivers flowed.
  • Our irrigation systems had to be cleaned out from silt or the canals would get clogged up and wouldn't pass through to other villages. After a while when the Mesopotamians got along and worked as friends there were bigger and bigger populations which grew into towns.
  • As the cities grew and got larger the main thing people would fight over and typically would cause bloodshed was how much water people did and didn't get.
  • In the end all is well and the Mesopotamians had more advancements like they created wheels and a calendar. In conclusion the Mesopotamians worked it out and made a great deal of their lives.
