Storyboard Text

  • Hi, I'm Rhonda Rock. I'm here to show you how each type of rock is formed! Now let's roll right into it.
  • I first started out when magma was being melted inside of a volcano.
  • Then the magma or lava started to cool and over time I became an igneous rock.
  • Now it's time for me to become a sedimentary rock! First, I need to go through the first step, weathering. Weathering is when you get broken down into smaller pieces by wind, water, ice, or gravity. I got broken down along the coast of Ocean City, New Jersey . Personally, it's a lot more fun since you're rocking around with the waves!
  • Then, a bunch of small pieces of rock are pressed together during a process called compaction. Yay! I'm a sedimentary rock!
  • Now it's time for me to become a metamorphic rock! First, I need to under go extreme heat. Then I need to go through severe pressure. This all happens underground, beneath the surface, and in the Earth's mantle. Now I am a metamorphic rock!
  • That's how I took the difficult journey through the rock cycle, becoming a igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rock. Hope you enjoyed and have a rocking awesome day!
