  • This evidence supports the theme, "Fear and Suspicion  are Destructive Forces" because it shows how fear led to a murder. It showed fear by the crowd of people being scared when they saw a shadow walking down the sidewalk (Pete Van Horn).  Everyone stood panicking not knowing what to do if it approached them, so everyone was saying it was a monster. Because of of that it lead to a destructive force, in which was the murder. So just to wrap it up, Charlie was so scared and straight forward on pulling the trigger in which he did, and at the end their was death on Mapple street.
  • The text evidenced backups the theme because it is showing a destructive force continuing after the death.  It shows a destructive force of the a man from the crowd tackling Charlie, but it came from the fear of the people that Charlie might be the monster.  They like gave him a punishment of what will happen if he did it again to an innocent person.  In addition, because of that, people were thinking that Charlie is the monster, meaning it shows some suspicion. According to the story, after this scene the lights on his house started flickering. This states how Charlie has the possibility of being the monster.
  • The theme, "Fear and Suspicion are Destructive Forces" is supported by the evidence above because it shows how their is suspicion involve in the situation and than turns into a devastating scene. It shows suspicion by everyone believing Charlie that Tommy might be the monster. Too add, in the beginning Tommy was saying to not go to downtown because they didn't want them. Meaning it shows how Tommy could be the monster since he knows what is happening. After Charlie announces that, a few minutes later they start chasing Tommy and his mom, and just turns into a destructive situation.
