- well, as long as you got your complaint filed , they cant fire you. That's what one of them white fellows tell me .
- I ain't worried about them firing me.They gonna fire me cause I asked a question?That's all I did.I went to Mr.Rand and asked him"Why?,why you got the white men driving and the colored lifting?"
- ACT ONE , SCENE FOUR
- You come in here carrying on, I reckon they ain't fired you.What they say down there at the commissioner's. office?
- Look here,Rose...Mr.Rand called me into his office today when I got back from talking to them people down there...it come from up top...he called me in and told me they was making me a driver

- Sometimes I wish I hadn't known my daddy.He ain't cared nothing bout no kids.A kid to him was nothing.
- In this scene Troy is fed up due to the unfairness of his job.He doesn't like the fact that blacks are doing the hard work while the whites have it easy.The favoritism towards the whites is getting in the way between Troy and the blacks being able to drive the truck.
- In this scene Troy is given the opportunity to drive the truck which was something he wanted to do since the beginning .Breaking the barrier of not being able to drive the truck .
- In this scene Troy relationship with his dad makes him feel unappreciated and since his dad only cared for himself they didn't shared the ideal father and son bond.Troy's dad being careless was getting in the way and affecting bond with Troy.
