One day Numerators evil brother staged a coup and sent Numerator to exile.
Don't ever come back!
Amulis thought of a soulution to his problems when a great idea came to mind...
Amulius was scared of the children Numerators daughter could have. "They could overthrow him," he thought.
If he sent his niece to be a priestess to the goddess of Vestal she could have no children.
His plan backfired. Mars, the god of war, visited Rhea and the two fell in love and had twin boys.
Amulius was very angry, he ordered his servants to put the babies in a basket and throw them into the River Tiber.
The baby's did not die. Once it reached dry land a she-wolf found them and looked after them for quite some time.
After hearing of Amulis's devious acts the twins were angry. They decided to seek revenge and overthrow there great uncle.
The twins succeeded and restored Numerator as rightful king of Alba Langa.
The boys stayed with there grandfather for a while but got bored and left to build a kingdom of there own.
Rumor has it that Romulus was taken up to heaven and was made a god. To show there respect they hold a festival called Quirinalia.
The boys fought over the height of there city walls. Remus jumped over the walls to prove his point. Romulus was furious he did not like to be mocked. He killed him on the spot and became the sole ruler of the city.
In the early days of the city many of the residents were fugitives of the law.
