John Quincy adams was elected in 1824 because of henry clay he was the speaker of the house and no one earned the majority vote so the house had to chose who was president. Henry backed Adams if adams would give him the position secretary of state
This made andrew jackson really mad because he won the popular vote and adams was not the most popular. This lead to Jackson having a 4 year campaign from 1824 to 1828
Henry Clay and Adams would have meetings to discuss adams presidency and giving Clay the position secretary of state. This happened because no one won he majority vote and the house was responsible for electing the president.
The election of 1828 was a landslide victory for jackson because he was campaigning from 1824
The spoils system was a system created by Jackson that appointed positions in the government to people that jackson favored not based on their skills This made many of the people that were more skilled mad that they were replaced
Jackson's kitchen cabinet was a group of unofficial advisors that Jackson appointed based on his relationship with them and not their ability. This lead to many people disliking Jackson even more because he kicked out the more highly skilled people.
The nullification crisis was a speak up of south carolina against high tariffs that they thought were unconstitutional. The tariffs were targeted to help industrial areas in the north rather than farms in the south. The carolina wanted the tarifs to be nullified but jackson refused and threatened to send soldiers down to take care of the problem and south carolina said they would secede from the union
The trail of tears happened due to the indian removal act. It was the movement of native americans from their territories to a territory in oklahoma set aside from them. It was long and many natives died from exposure to weather, hunger, and thirst while being escorted by american troops.
The bank war was andrew jackson's last thing he did in his presidency and he shut down the national bank of the U.S. because he thought it was unconstitutional. it eventually led to it collapsing later on
