Dred Scott By Max Kim Red Block One
Dred Scott was sold to a man named Dr. John Emerson, he took him to the Wisconsin Territory where slavery does not exist. A few years later Dred Scott moved in with Dr. Emerson.
When Dr. Emerson died Dred Scott and his family were stuck with his wife Eliza Sanford. The Scott's tried to buy thier freedom from Stanford but didn't work.
The Scott's were legally free since they had live in a place were there is no slavery, but unfortunately he lost the case because he was not a citiven.
Dred Scott went to the Congress to ban slavery, they declared that slaves are property according to the Congress.
The news got out and a group anti-slavery men and went to show that all are equal and should be treated that way. Pro slavery men were happy about the case, but unfortunately slavery is far from concluded.
