  • America's postwar prosperity has truly been remarkable. Between 1940-1960 the percentage of homeowner rose from 41 to 61. From 1945-1961 more than 65 million babies were born. At the height of the baby boom, every 7 seconds a child was born. The nom began with young couples putting off their wedding during World War 2 and those from the Korean War would finally begin their families. The growth of families was also encouraged by the government from offering generous GI benefits such as home purchases
