The Inquisitors stopped at nothing to make sure they would convert. Brutal torture ensured they would recant or die. Their belief that Christianity is the one true religion justified their torturous methods.
A war is raging and resources are locked, so the monarchy isn't able to finance the ambitious Christopher Columbus and his westward dream.
Your Highness, allow me to sail westward for the glory of Spain.
With the war ended and a victory secured, resources are plentiful and the monarchs make a coalited decision to sponsor Christopher Columbus. He will now sail westward!
