  • Man vs. Man
  • Man vs. Nature
  • Man vs. Nature
  • This represents man vs. man because in this scene, Joe and Frank meet each other in the woods to kill one another. Although they don't know each other personally, they want to kill one another because of their family history.
  • This represents man vs. nature because Joe and Frank are trapped under a tree (nature). This is a big part of the story because this is when Frank realizes they are trying to kill one another for no reason. They both agree to set aside their differences and put an end to the family tradition of hating each other.
  • This is man vs. nature because they are about to be eaten by wolves. This is an interesting twist at the very end of the short story. Everything that happened in the last scene won't matter anymore if they're dead because no one will have known that the two families came together.
