Siddhartha Gautma was born a prince of Nepal around 563 B.C. His father went to a fortuneteller and he said that he will be a prince or a religious leader. His father did a lot of things to try to get him a king like him.
Here is some food for you.
What is he doing?
Siddhartha Gautma was raised in great wealth because of his father. His father protected him from anything sad or unpleasant for most of his childhood. When they traveled out of the palace, all the guards would tell the homeless people to get away so the prince would not see them.
When Siddhartha Gautma was about 29, he traveled out of the palace with no guards for the first time. Along the way, he saw homeless people, diseases, people crying and more. He was so sad after he saw it and all his happiness drained out of him.

Siddhartha Gautma, the one-protected prince went into the woods for the truth. He wandered in the forest and found the asetics. After 5 years of losing weight, not eating a lot and staying in weird positions, he abandoned the asetics.
As he gained his strength back, he sat under the tree of knowledge and meditated for 49 days. During that time, he was visited by Mara. He offered him wealth and other things, but Siddhartha Gautma didn't accept it so Mara attacked him with showers and rocks. Soon after, Siddhartha Gautma was enlightened and became the Buddha.
After the Buddha became enlightened, he didn't go back home, he taught India what he had learned for the next 45 years. On his journey, people would ask if he was a god, if he was an angel or if he was a saint. Then the people would ask, "Then what are you" and he would say that he is awake. He unfortunately died at about age 80.
