Nana taught Mariam since she was little, that the only thing she needs to learn is to endure. Mariam wanted to go to school, but Nana tells her that education isn't important.
While in a public place, Mariam has a misscarriage. She doesn't know what to do and is in shock. This is hard on her because Rasheed really wants a kid, and Mariam hoped she would have a child.
Rasheed has an Eid party and has guests come over, but Mariam is not allowed to be downstairs with them. Although Mariam felt that Rasheed was being respectful to her, it was unfair that she was not able to eat or talk with them.
