When I jump of the building, my body will decend through the air in a rapid force. Once I splat on the ground, that will be the external force stopping me.
Newton's first law states that a body at rest will remain at rest, and a body in motion will remain in motion unless it is acted upon by an external force.
Newton's second law states that the force acting on an object is equal to the mass of that object times its acceleration, F=ma.
It takes more force than I have to walk across the platform holding a shelf than it would take me to walk with an apple.
Newton's thrid law states that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.
If I attempt to try to push the truck, it wouldn't work. It would force me to get pushed back because it is too heavy.
