Storyboard Text

  • We have landed in Iran.
  • This woman is going to Iran for the first time. She finds that there are many differences than what we are used to.
  • I wonder how different it is here than the U.S.
  • Some other different things about Islam are the traditional dress, for women especially. No clothes should be too thin or too tight to show skin. As you can see, this Iranian woman is dressed in a veil and longer, more concealing clothing.
  • I'm glad you asked. The word Islam itself means full commitment to god.
  • Now that I'm in Iran, I would like to learn some things. What is Islam, and how does it play a role in Iranian culture?
  • One who is committed to god will also follow the 5 Pillars. Reciting the faith, performing prayers, charity, fasting during Ramadan and the pilgrimage to holy city of Mecca.
  • As you can also see here, prayer is crucial. It is done 5 times a day.
  • I didn't know you guys ate uh.. beef.
  • We do. In Islam we do not eat pork, pigs are dirty!
