While the characters in The Monsters are due on Maple street start off nice calm and peaceful, they end trying to murder each other. The citizens of Maple street gather around in a group where they talk about the flash in the sky, and the sudden blackout. While they c Tommy a young boy tells the people that aliens are invading and posing as humans. The residents of Maple Street believe the kid, and start to suspect that Les Goodman is the impostor, because his car turns on unlike the rest. A woman then tells the crowd that when shes up late at night she sees that Goodman is staring up at the sky, almost like he's waiting for something. Another reason behind my Theme is that Charlie shoots Pete Van Horn, After seeing a black figure walk from the gray fog, Charlie gets the shotgun and shoots it, believing he's killed the alien. the figure then stumbled and then collapsed on to the ground, when the crowd reaches the body they find out that it is Pete Van Horn, who left to see if the power was on somewhere else. If Charlie wasn't so impulsive he wouldn't have killed Pete. Maple Street then burst out in to total chaos, after Pete was killed they all turned on one another. Everyone was trying to kill the next, and Maple Street was destroyed. The Monsters are due on Maple shows that even a quiet, peaceful neighbor hood can turn into a violent, cynical mob.
