  • The HBC company stats in 1670 which starts a economic competition. New France then move west to where the Cree and the Nakoda middlemen are. The Voyageurs start taking smaller boats up and down rivers to trading post, this was to stop the stress of carrying boats. The French and Scottish Metis culture stated to come into view.
  • We will beat the french
  • PHASE 3
  • WE will beat the British
  • As time went by, the British started taking control and New France became a British colony. The main focus was now land instead of fur. The NWC was later formed by British merchants to go against the HBC. They needed the French and Metis workers for fur trade and the Pemmican trade was developed by them. They had different jobs like interpreters, guides, traders and carters. The women also became very important in fur trade they became companions, interpreters, business partners, prepared hides, and made clothes/snowshoes.
  • We are finally getting jobs
  • PHASE 4
  • The HBC company started losing control over the monopoly because the Metis could trade with the Americans. The trade started to go down like there was less beaver, buffalo, and European demand for furs. Less food supply forced the FN to also move. Even some of the trading forts became permanent settlements because there was nothing to trade.
  • We are losing control over the monopoly since Metis people are allowed to trade with Americans
  • There no more trading which means no food
