  • In the late 1880's / early 1890's, a campaign was run by women and their supporters, who wanted the right to vote in New Zealand. Methods in protesting included: The Women's Christian Temperance Union group organisation, public meetings, pamphlets and petitions.
  • Petitions to Parliament
  • In the 19th Century (1800's) the main roles for women during colonial times, when Britain ruled over New Zealand, were a Wife, Mother, Homemaker, and Housekeeper. Women in New Zealand had a far wider range of duties than women in England.
