  • On Familiar Grounds 
  • Aid from Distinct Countries
  • Great Commanders 
  • The colonists knew where they were at. It gave them a upper hand over the British because the British simply didn't know where they were.
  • Vastly Outnumbered  
  • The colonists received some aid and help from other countries like France. This was about 85 - 90% of their gunpowder and aid. 
  • Huge # of Untrained
  • The colonists where lead by George Washington . George had much experience he was a British general during the French and Indian War. 
  • Shortage of Supplies
  • The British had many numbers over the colonists. They had about 50,000 troops with about 30,000 mercenaries.
  • The colonists did not have the training and strength the British had. They were regular people who were standing up for their country.
  • Guns were scarce as well as gunpowder. They even tried to arm the colonist with bows and easier weapons to carry.
