  • Come and Take it
  • General Demingo de Utargechea brought 100 Mexican soldiers to take back a cannon given do Greene Dewwitts colony named Gonzales. But when the Mexican soldiers arrived the settlers refused to give the cannon back
  • The Cannon was being hidden in a nearby peach orchard. So they brought out the cannon. They raised a flag that had a black cannon painted on it, and words that said "Come and Take it" on it.
  • Defeat.
  • After the Mexican army saw the flag they were not happy. They ordered their cannon back, yet the Texans still did not listen.
  • Now on October 2nd, 1835 the Texans attacked the Mexicans. The Mexicans were outnumbered and didn't have enough weapons. The Mexicans fleed and the General Castaneda wrote a report to the Mexican Gov. It stated that he used every means possible to keep peace.
  • Despite all the attempts to keep the peace, General Castaneda lost this battle. I don't think you can even call this a battle. It was more of a skirmish. This skirmish was the beginning of the Texas Revolution.d
