General Demingo de Utargechea brought 100 Mexican soldiers to take back a cannon given do Greene Dewwitts colony named Gonzales. But when the Mexican soldiers arrived the settlers refused to give the cannon back
The Cannon was being hidden in a nearby peach orchard. So they brought out the cannon. They raised a flag that had a black cannon painted on it, and words that said "Come and Take it" on it.
After the Mexican army saw the flag they were not happy. They ordered their cannon back, yet the Texans still did not listen.
Now on October 2nd, 1835 the Texans attacked the Mexicans. The Mexicans were outnumbered and didn't have enough weapons. The Mexicans fleed and the General Castaneda wrote a report to the Mexican Gov. It stated that he used every means possible to keep peace.
Despite all the attempts to keep the peace, General Castaneda lost this battle. I don't think you can even call this a battle. It was more of a skirmish. This skirmish was the beginning of the Texas Revolution.d
