King Nebuchadnezzar made an image of gold and commanded all his subjects to bow down before it.
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego did not bow down to the image. The king was then informed of their actions.
The three friends then explained why they will not bow down to the image. They believed that God would save them and if He would not, they still won't renounce their faith in God.
The king got furious and ordered the three friends to be thrown to the fiery furnace. The guards that threw them died of the heat, but the three friends were still alive.
The king noticed that there were now four people inside the furnace, and the fourth person looked like the son of gods. He told the three friends to go out. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego did not burn, even a strand of their hair.
King Nebuchadnezzar then praised God and made a decree that anyone who dishonours the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego will be killed.
