"Dill was a curiosity. He wore blue linen shorts that buttoned to his shirt, his hair was snow white and stuck to his head like duckfluff; he was a year my senior but I towered over him." (9)
A Lost Boy
"Dill Harris could tell the biggest ones I ever heard. Among other things, he had been up in a mail plane seventeen times, he had been to Nova Scotia, he had seen an elephant, and his granddaddy was Brigadier General Joe Wheeler and left him his sword." (63)
Dill was a villains villain: he could get into any character part assigned him, and appear tall if height was part of the delivery required. He was as good as his worst performance; his worst performance was Gothic. (52)
"Grandma says he hasn't got a home...he just gets passed around from relative to relative, and Miss Rachel keeps him every Summer." (110)
"Don't say anything about it yet, but we're gonna get married as soon as we're big enough." (109)
I think Dill is a good kid who just happens to go from home to home and has a bit of an overactive imagination.
