Storyboard Text

  • Muhammad is meditating in a cave when he is passed a message from Allah
  • I am Gabriel. I have come to tell you the wise words of Allah for you to pass on to Allah's followers.
  • Allah?
  • And so Gabriel passes on Allah's words and ways so that he can spread the faith
  • ...there will come a day of judgement... there will be life after death... nothing can happen without Allah's permission
  • There is no god but Allah. We, Muslims should devote our lives to Allah...
  • Muhammad passes his message on, like Gabriel told him to
  • Travelling from Mecca to Medina-journey is called the Hijra- marks the start of the Islamic calendar
  • After Muhammad passed, there were some temporary leaders, however there was a big debate on who should lead
  • I SHOULD BE LEADER I WAS HIS FATHER IN LAW!
  • NO I SHOULD BE LEADER MUHAMMAD SAYS ALLAH TALKS ABOUT ME
  • NO I SHOULD BE LEADER I WAS ALSO HIS FATHER IN LAW!
  • NO I SHOULD BE LEADER I CAN ACTUALLY LEAD
  • OH ALLAH PLEASE HELP WHY IS EVERYONE FIGHTING
  • The debate led to to 2 major sects: Sunnis and Shiites. Over time smaller Muslim denominations developed and are still present to this day e.g. Wahhabi. Many more things that are associated with the religion today such as the Quran, the most important holy book amongst Muslims have become more known and widely spread. The Five Pillars of Islam, the Sharia Law and Muslim Holidays are all examples of how far Islam has come not only as a religion but as a culture. It is a belief that has now become widely accepted throughout the world.
