Storyboard Text

  • Saroo!!!
  • Train, Ginestlay?
  • Kamla, Guddu, Kallu, Shekila?
  • ...?
  • Bread?
  • No!
  • At the age of 5, Saroo Brierley gets carted away to Calcutta on a train on accident. His brother Guddu looks for him to no avail.
  • You're coming with me!
  • You wanna fight?!
  • Saroo doesn't know the proper name of his hometown, and he cannot form complete sentences, so people can't understand Saroo and help him. Saroo also asks about his family, but no one knows where they are.
  • Please stop!
  • Sorry?
  • This is your punishment!
  • Saroo must fight with other kids for food and beg for some scraps.
  • Kidnappers, parasites, and gangs are just a few of the things Saroo has to worry about every day on the streets of Calcutta.
  • Saroo gets taken into an orphanage called Liluah, but it is more of a prison than an orphanage.
  • Finally, after 2 orphanages, an adoption, 8 months of intense searching on Google Earth, and 25 years, Saroo finds his hometown and his mother.
