  • Battle Of Fort Sumter April 12, 1861
  • Was the very first battle that started the war. There were no casualties and only happened due to Lincoln sending a letter saying he, was sending supplies but no troops to fort Sumter due to it being weak. In response the confederates attacked it day and night with artillery until they surrendered. Confederate victory
  • The first battle of bull run or manassas was expected and both sides were waiting for an attack. The civilians found out and set up picnics to watch the battle expecting it to be quick and easy with the union easily winning. however to everyone's surprise the confederacy were holding the union at bay and eventually won and the citizens and Union retreated and ran away.   • First Battle Of Bull Run July 21, 1861
  • Fort Donelson Feb 13-16 1862
  • Fort Donelson was attacked by Union forces led by General Grant on his journey to capture the Mississippi river and captured a good part of Tennessee. The union successfully got railroads and parts of the Cumberland river to the Union, Further progressing the attack on the Mississippi river.Union Victory

  • After Capturing Fort Henry and Donelson US General Grant was heading to Corinth, Mississippi to capture the Railroad station there one of the biggest in the Confederacy. While on his way there he stumbled upon a Confederate fort and attacked, it ended up being on of the bloodiest battles in the war and showed everyone how dangerous this war would be.Union Victory

  • The Battle of Antietam was the single bloodiest day in any american war up to that date it caused 23,000 casualties. This happened when General Lee went into the Union looking for supplies and were to fight a big battle but when lees plans were found he was retreating and they went and fought causing a huge deadly battle that ended with them storming a bridge and forcing them to admit defeat and retreat.Union Victory

  • Final Battle in the civil war in which General Robert E. Lee surrendered at Appomattox court house and ended the war. had some of the lowest casualties in the war at 600 casualties 500 of which were confederate. After Lee fled Richmond he made his final stand here where he ended up surrendering. Union Victory, Union Won the War
