Here, take this. It's my good deed for the day. Feeding the hungry
Ghost is a teenage boy who lives with his mom in Glass Manor. He struggles with his past because in fourth grade, his abusive father tried to shoot him and his mom. This is the night Ghost learned how to run.
Ghost stumbles across a track team. He challenges one of the fastest runners to race. It was a very close race and Ghost gets recruited to the team. His mom agrees to let him run only if Ghost promises to stay out of trouble.
Ghost gets teased for being poor by Brandon, the school bully. Ghost beats him up and gets in trouble, but Coach agrees not to tell his mom if he gets his act together.
You don't understand...
To run better, Ghost decides to cut of the tops of his high top sneakers. Everyone notices at school the next day. Ghost, humiliated and embarrassed, ditches school and runs to Everything Sports. There, he steals a pair of silver running shoes.
Ghost goes to dinner for a bonding experience with his new teammates. They each have to tell eachother a secret of their own before they can eat. After listening to all of their personal problems, Ghost feels more connected to his teammates.
Coach finds out that Ghost stole the shoes. Ghost says that no one could possibly understand why he did it. However, Coach reveals his unfortunate past with his father, teaching Ghost that he should use running to move toward what he wants to be.
