  • The King and Queen have noticed that Hamlet's behavior changed so the King asked Rosencrantz and Guildenstern to spy on Hamlet
  • We are "concerned." Go spy on Hamlet to find out why he has gone mad

  • GUILDENSTERN
  • Polonius was about to tell King and Queen why Hamlet has been acting out, then Voltemand and Cornelius enter with news about Norway.
  • I know why Hamlet is mad, he is--
  • Polonius
  • Norway is now distracted by Poland
  • Polonius tells King and Queen that Hamlet is mad for Ophelia, he reads a letter Hamlet wrote as proof. They discuss how to prove it.
  • I know why Hamlet is crazed, he is in love with my daughter Ophelia and mad she rejected him. We can prove it.
  • Oh my, Hamlet is really crazy
  • Polonius talks to Hamlet alone, he feels as though Hamlet is certainly mad after Hamlet rambles.

  • Hamlet talks to Rosencrantz and Cornelius about how he wants to leave and complains that he doesn't like anybody. Then Hamlet tells them he knows the King and Queen sent them, they try to disagree.
