Storyboard Text

  • The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street Author: Rod Serling Storyboard created by: Bella Russell
  • "What was that? A meteor?"
  • Whoosh!!!
  • The power is all out and our portable radio won't work!
  • "I'll cut through the back yard... See if the power is still on on Floral Street. I'll be right back!"
  • "Well, I guess what we'd better do then is to run a check on the neighborhood and see which ones of us are really human!"
  • Wait! Don't go! I think it was aliens who don't want us to leave. There are people working with the aliens on Maple Street!
  • "At the sound of the roar and the flash of light it will be precisely 6:43 on Maple Street." The residents of sleepy Maple Street assume it was a meteor coming very close and do not think much of it. (Exposition)
  • I didn't know who he was... How was I supposed to know he wasn't a monster!
  • YOU KILLED HIM, CHARLIE!
  • Why would I be the monster! She's obviously working with the monster!
  • Soon all of the neighbors come out to talk because all of the power has gone out! Not only electricity but ham radios and cars won't work. Could it have to do with the meteor?
  • He must be the monster or at least helping them!
  • He KILLED Charlie! He must be the monster!
  •  Tommy says that someone on Maple Street is working with the aliens who flew in the thing that went overhead. Eventually everyone believes him.
  • Yes, with a few variations. We will go from one city to the next and let them destroy themselves.
  • Is it always the same pattern?
  • Pete Van Horn was coming back from checking out the other neighborhood. Charlie then shot Pete Van Horn thinking he was a monster from the meteor. This is the climax.
  • Chaos sets in as all the neighbors start calling each other monsters.
  • It turns out the monsters on Maple Street were not actually the aliens but the people themselves. All the aliens did was remove their electricity, and they destroyed themselves. (Resolution)
  • "There are weapons that are simply thoughts, attitudes, prejudices...For the record, prejudices can kill and suspicion can destroy."
