Colonists are traveling overseas to settle in North America in the early 1600s. They are wanting religious freedoms.
The French and Indian war was fought in 1754 in the Ohio River Valley in North America. The French and Indians were fighting against the British. In the end France loses all land while britain gains all land east of Mississippi.
Britain wanted to show there power so they decided they would put a tax on tea. Even though the British thought they were doing a good thing by paying of debt the colonist and colonial leaders were very angry.
Loyalist vs. Patriots
Due to the tea act it created something called the Boston tea party which took place in 1773. This gave the colonist a chance to share their beliefs such as no taxation without representation. They showed their beliefs by poring/dumping all of the tea into the harbor. So this means they decided to boycott this new tax.
Parliament was now even more angry so they decided not to repeal but to create the intolerable acts. This document basically was a list of strict rules the colonist now had to follow.
Finally the colonists have enough so they decided to go to war with the loyalists. The reasons they were so mad was because they were banned from having gatherings, they closed the Boston harbor, and they allowed soldiers to search homes without a warrant. This was the start to the revolutionary war.
