James Madison proposed the Virginia Plan in order to solve the issues having to do with different-sized states and their votes. This plan created a bicameral legislature and 3 branches of the national government that gave representation based on population.
Three-fifths Compromise
Senate: 2 per state
House of Representatives: Based on state population
This plan was proposed by William Patterson and it created a unicameral legislature that gives one vote to each state.
Electoral College
The Connecticut Compromise borrowed from both the Virginia and New Jersey Plans. It created a bicameral legislature with a House of Representatives and Senate.
The Great Compromise
The 3/5 compromise was an agreement between delegates that allowed for slaves to be counted as 3/5 of a person when determining a state's population.
Each state has an elected member/members in the electoral college, these members represent each state in matters of voting, like the presidential election.
A proposal made making legislation bicameral and directly voted in by the people while the House of Reps. is established.
