  • The Berlin conference is a conference about how Africa was to be split up among rulers of various places in Europe including so others however no African leaders where allowed in.
  • The Berlin Conference
  • The Boar War took place in the late 1899 to 1902  the boars  found gold and diamonds drawing people in so they had to try and keep them out to the best of there ability so people could not gain political rights. it was considers the first modern war. hundreds of south Africans where put into concentration camps and over 14000 died and the British won.
  • The Boar War
  • Russian czars started a war on the ottomans in order to gain a warm weather port. The Ottomans joined forces with Britain and France and soon won the war 
  • The Crimean War
  • In the 19th century great Britain and  Russia struggled  again over geopolitics, over Asian   and Muslim    lands . Russia   wanted to access    Indians    riches .  Afghanistan    was in the middle of both of them so Britain wanted to extend its borders but the frustrating    terrain was too difficult  and after decades of war Britain     resigned     in 1881 and in 1921 Brittany    agreed  not to extend the borders.
  • Great Game
  • IN 1890 Persia ruler Nasir-al-din sold a concession to a British company to export Persian tobacco. this made Jamal al-Din al-Afghani mad so he created/started a boycott that worked and riots started to make them cancel the conssetions. In 1907 Britain and Russia split up the country of Persia creating groups of influences.
  • Battle over Tobacco
  • India benefited    but was also harmed by British    colonialism.   Negative effects where Britain     held most political    and economical power. Conversion   to cash crops reduced food production. Religious    and social customs where not supposed to happen or be practiced. But some positive effects where it created the third longest railroad ,modern roads, phone lines   and phones , dams and bridges sanitation   and health     improved, literacy    increased, local warfare    between    competitive local rulers
