Oh, hey. I didn't see you there. I'm photosynthesis and I'm here to tell you a little about myself. I'm the process certain organisms use to make food. Without me you wouldn't be here because I give you oxygen and food.
This is where I work. I guess I'm kind of like a chef. Here I make products to feed the plants like glucose, oxygen, and water.
Right now I'm getting the reactants that I will use to make the products. I need a cup of sunlight, two cups of CO2, and H2O.
I have two stages: the light reactions which convert solar energy to solar energy and the Calvin Cycle which incorporates CO2 into organic compounds known as carbon fixation.
These stages occur right here in the chloroplasts. The light reactions take place in the thylakoid and the Calvin Cycle takes place in the stroma.
