Storyboard Text

  • Woah! What are you?
  • The phytoplankton seems to be pulling me towards the surface ocean. Come with me!
  • You released me with respiration! I am a carbon atom and I am here to inform you about the phases carbon goes through.
  • Well, we traveled down through the water.
  • It’s so beautiful down here, but how did we get this deep in the ocean?
  • Totally! Plants need carbon dioxide for photosynthesis. In the process it turns it into oxygen, which humans and animals rely on for respiration.
  • Now the plant is about to take us in and release us as oxygen into atmosphere again!
  • Hey does this plant have anything to do with the carbon cycle?
  • Now that I am oxygen from photosynthesis this little guy will inhale me for nutrition.
  • Oh and then he will turn you back into carbon!
  • I know it's sad, but it is a great learning opportunity. Now he will decompose and become a part of the soil.
  • Oh no! He died and will soon decompose!
  • The soil helps plants grow. The dead animals turn into coal, oil, and natural gases. This releases carbon into the atmosphere again and the process starts all over.
  • Well thank you for telling me about the carbon cycle.
