  • Mr.White and Herbert White are playing chess.While Mrs.White is sewing in the background on the couch.They are waiting for Mr.Whites friend Sargent Major Morris to come visit after his trip to India for 21 years.
  • Falling Action
  • The Whites hear Sargent Major Morris walking up the trail to the door.Sargent knocks on the door and comes in and starts telling them about the paw and his adventures.He then gives the paw to the Whites.
  • Resolution
  • i wish for 200 pounds.
  • Mr.White takes the monkies paw and askes Sargent if he were to wish upon the paw what should he wish for.Sargent said that he should wish for something sensable. Mr.White wishes upon the paw and wishes for 200 pounds.The paw twisted in his hand like a snake.
  • Literary Element
  • "well i don't see the money and i bet i never shall"
  • The whites get news that there son is killed in an accident at the mill.The mill wants to compensate the Whites with 200 pounds.The whites first wish came true.
  • Mrs.white demands Mr.white to go get the paw and wish there son alive so he does.They hear a knocking at the door a few hours later realizing that he was burried 2 miles away.Mr.White wishes for something but we don't know what but what we do know is that the knocking on the door stopped.
  • wish my son alive again.
  • This i situational irony because little do we know that later in the story Herbert dies.We know that Herbert is going to die and never see the money.
