  • In the Hellenistic Age, art and architecture was very similar to the Ancient Greeks. This meant that lots of pillars and statues had a Greek style.
  • Culture
  • The Hellenistic Age also had a blend of the eastern and western cultures. This is because Alexander the Great married a Persian women which infused Persian culture.
  • Alexander the Great
  • Alexander the Great conquered many places including Greece, Egypt, and Babylon.
  • That right! He also was taught by the Greek philosopher, Aristotle.
  • Women
  • Hey! Did you know that women in Macedonia had more priveledges than other countries?
  • Yeah! They were allowed to learn how to read and write, and many became scholars or philosophers.
  • Math & Science
  • One famous mathematician was Pythagoras - he invented the Pythagorean Theorem.
  • A famous astronomer was Aristarchus - he argued that the Earth was tilted on an axis and orbited the Sun.
  • Medicine
  • Do you know who Hippocrates was?
  • Yeah! He was a physician. He studied the causes of illnesses and he also looked for cures. He also made the Hippocratic oath. it was an oath to help the sick and ill.
