Storyboard Text

  • Her reputation was pure as the snow, but now it's as dirty and black as my own face
  • My plan is working just as I hoped
  • I see that you're all eaten up with emotion. I'm sorry I said anything. You want prove?
  • You devil!
  • I haven't done anything to deserve this!
  • Yes, my plan is working!
  • ohhhh nooo!!!
  • Where is the handkerchief?!
  • Please, give Cassio his job back!
  •  This is an internal conflict with Othello. When Iago begins his mischievous plan to break Othello and Desdemona up, he tells Othello that his beloved wife was cheating on him with his good friend Cassio. Othello didn't want to believe it, but he fell for Iago's manipulative ways .  After hearing about this horrible event, Othello's self-confidence plummeted and he thought nothing  of himself. For example, Act 3 scene 3 says " Othello: I swear, I think my wife is faithful, and  think she's not.   I think you're trustworthy one minute then I think you're not.  I need proof!  Her reputation was as pure as the snow but now it is a dirty and black as my face."
  • This is an external conflict between Othello and Desdmona. She went to go talk to Othello about his and Cassio's relationship since they've been drifting apart. But Othello thinks shes cheating on him with Cassio because of Iago's manipulative ways. When Desdemona brings up Cassio in the coversation, he loses control of his anger and hits her. In the play , Act 4, scene 1 it states "Desdemona: Yes, unfortunately. I’d do anything to bring them back together, since I really care for Cassio. Othello: Damn it all!..Othello: I’m glad you’re insane enough to admit it in front of me. Desdemona: Why, sweet Othello— . Othello:(striking her) You devil!"
  • This is an external conflict between Desdemonna and Othello. She is constantly asking Othello to reinstate Cassio to his original position, but Othello saw this as a threat due to Iago telling Othello that his wife  is cheating on him with Cassio. This caused Othello to get very anger and  ordered her to see the handkerchief that he gave her, symbolizing he's love and trust for her. He wanted to see if she lost it and truly lost her love for him. According to the play, in Act 3, scene 4 says, "Desdemona: Please hire Cassio again. Othello: Bring me the handkerchief--my mind is full of doubt... The handkerchief!"
