On April 12, 1861, president Lincoln decided to send supplies to Ft. Sumter. The Confederate troops there shot at the Federal Arsenal. After 1 and half days of fighting, the Union troops surrendered ft. Sumter, and thus began the Civil War.
Thomas Jackson got his nickname, the "Stonewall," form being like a stonewall while in battle. He was a Confederate general in the civil war and fought in multiple battle. Unfortunately, during the Battles of Chancellorsville, he was hit 3 times and was shot by a Confederate bullet. The next day pneumonia had set in, and he died soon after.
