The Treaty of Versailles was the most important peace treaty causing an end to WWI from June 28, 1919- January 10, 1920.
Hitler and the Nazi Party had taken power in Germany in 1933. Which the government had now used the totalitarian method to run Germany until 1945.
The the Japanese had attacked the U.S in Hawaii in December 7, 1941. This action had precipitated the entry of WWII.
Codenamed Operation Overlord, the battle began on June 6, 1944, also known as D-Day, when some 156,000 American, British and Canadian forces landed on five beaches along a 50 mile stretch of the heavily fortified coast of France’s Normandy region.
After years of Nazi rule in Germany, during which Jews were consistently persecuted, Hitler’s “final solution”–now known as the Holocaust–came to fruition under the cover of world war, with mass killing centers constructed in the concentration camps of occupied Poland.
Germany, was chosen as a site for trials that took place in 1945 and 1946. Judges from the Allied powers—Great Britain, France, the Soviet Union, and the United States—presided over the hearings of twenty-two major Nazi criminals. Twelve prominent Nazis were sentenced to death.
