Impact on the Creation of the Constitution
The Articles of Confederation didn't call for a president, so they didn't have anyone to control or lead them. They couldn't have someone settle disputes easily. Their central government couldn't either.
Forming the Constitution
With the new government, individuals struggled to figure out what the currency should be. Because of this, people began making their own separate currency. This was a problem because it was difficult to figure out how to trade with these different dollars.
Compromises from the Constitution
One of the main inspirations of the Constitution was the Romans. Before their dictatorship, they were very successful with their Republic. They took the Republic and used it.
One of the main documents that inspired our constitution was the Declaration of Independence. It was written by Thomas Jefferson. It reminded us of the main reason why we separated, and that was taxation without representation. We don't want to make the same mistakes as Britain.
Declaration of Independence .... Bill of Rights
One of the most commonly known compromises in the Convention was the Three-Fifths Compromise. This compromise was determined whether or not slaves would be counted in the population. They decided to count 3 out of every 5 slaves to be counted.
