- "I lean back against the trunk of my tree, one finger gingerly stroking the sandpaper surface of my tongue, as / assess my options. How can I get water?"Page # 167
- Katniss has no urge to find food to eat after the careers kill a girl who was resting by the tree katniss was in. She still struggles to find water.
- "I've no appetite, but I suck on a rabbit bone just to give my mouth something to do" Page# 166-167
- Then Katniss realises that she is in the mud and is motivated to keep looking.
- She Decides that Haymitch isn't going to supply her with water so she thinks of him telling her she's close to the water source
