Storyboard Text

  • The Guilty Client
  • Hi Mo. I need a lawyer. The police say I broke into this place down the road. Now, I have to go to court. They are calling it break and enter and saying I could go to jail.
  • Hello Evan. What brings you in today?
  • Ah... this witness says they saw me fleeing from the scene. I've been in some trouble before so the police are just pinning it on me.
  • I'm sorry Evan. As a lawyer, I can't mislead the court. If you plead not guilty, I can only defend you by putting the prosecution to proof. Have you considered pleading guilty?
  • Break and enter is a serious charge. Why do the police say you did it?
  • Look, I'll be honest with you. I broke into the place - but I didn't steal anything. I'm not going to jail for nothing. You have to get me off!
  • Were you at the scene?
  • Yes! My girlfriend will say I was at her place, and you can say the witness saw someone that just looked like me. Easy right?
  • So you want to plead not guilty?
  • And what? Go to jail! That's not going to happen. Isn't it your job to defend me, and tell the court that I'm innocent?
  • I'd rather take my chances to walk free at a trial. The evidence is weak anyway. So, what do you need to get started on my defence?
  • Evan with an early guilty plea you may be able to avoid jail altogether.
